Last week, I took a week off from work to do some deer hunting. The open hardwoods that I hunt are literally knee-deep with natural snow making walking extremely difficult and I had wished I had my snowshoes. And as I write this, we are currently enjoying our fifth snowfall and it is only November 20th!

The good side to all of this snow are the early openings for most of our winter activities. Sunday River, Wildcat, Attitash, and Bretton Woods are open for skiing & snowboarding. They all have enjoyable midwinter conditions with terrain for all abilities. Additional terrain is opening daily thanks to cold temps and round-the-clock snowmaking.

In addition, Great Glen Trails has 100% of their 45 km of nordic & snowshoe trails open and groomed. The early snow has caught them off guard and they have yet to provide the Royalty Inn with the free passes for our guests. So they have asked us to tell people that they can show their Royalty Inn room key for free tickets! Winter hiking is always available this time of year but in addition to having crampons you will definitely need a pair of snowshoes.

The snow also adds a festive spirit to Santa’s Village in nearby Jefferson. There is something magical when you mix an abundance of Christmas lights with snow on the ground and in the trees. We still have five more weekends of Santa’s Village packages to enjoy. Bring the whole family and enjoy the spirit of the season with one of our Christmastime packages.

Remember, The Royalty Inn has the best apres ski facilities in town which include sauna, Jacuzzi and 75 foot heated indoor pool. Nothing beats a relaxing soak after being outdoors all day.

Next weekend, November 16th is the beginning of the Christmastime weekends at nearby Santa’s Village! The Royalty Inn puts Santa’s Village tickets together with access to the Royalty Inn’s rooms and recreational facilities to create a unique weekend experience to be enjoy by your entire family. Experience the magic and joy of Santa’s Village during Christmastime!

The fun begins at check-in at the Royalty Inn when each child receives their very own welcome gift. Then, at Santa’s Village, Santa greets every child while Mrs. Claus joins in on the hospitality offering warm wassail for all their guests. After dark, the beautiful lighting throughout the park envelops guests in the magical warmth of the season. A little snow can even enhance the beauty of the experience. You’ll want to dress warmly for an adventure on the Skyway Sleigh Monorail and the Merry Christmas Ferris Wheel, just 2 of the 14 rides that operate during the holiday festivities.

The Santa’s Village Christmastime season operates on weekends from Saturday, November 17th through Saturday, December 22nd. The park is also open on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Park hours are from 11:00 AM until 7 PM on Saturdays and from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Sundays.

Although we find November to be between seasons, there is still much to do in Gorham, New Hampshire this time of year. Now with the lowest room rates of the season, a last-minute getaway is very affordable! Room rates on the weekends start as low as $79 per night. That rate includes unlimited use of the Royalty Athletic Club, sauna, Jacuzzi and our 75 foot indoor swimming pool.

Outside there is plenty to do too! The hiking trails in the northern White Mountains are uncrowded, mountain biking is available on our rail trails, nearby Sunday River and Wildcat Mountains are open for early season skiing on weekends, and you can trailer your ATVs any day of the week to Jericho ATV Park’s world-class terrain.

The dining scene is also appealing with most of the area’s restaurants open during this time of the year. The White Mountain Cafe and Welsh’s Restaurant are terrific breakfast and lunch spots, while J’s Corner and Mr. Pizza serve delicious lunches and dinners. The Royalty Inn is conveniently located between the White Mountains region and the Great North Woods. Both regions contain vast wilderness areas and a wide variety of wildlife which we can pursue during our lengthy fall hunting seasons. And, we enthusiastically welcome hunters to stay at our inn!

As we get deeper into the fall season, more hunting opportunities become available. Currently, we are into rifle season for bear, archery season for deer and bear, plus small game, and bird season for shotgun enthusiasts. On Saturday, November 3^rd, muzzle loader season begins for deer & bear. Rifle season for deer & bear begins Wednesday, November 14^th with bear season ending on November 30^thand deer continuing through December 9^th.

Regardless of what game you pursue, just remember after a long and rewarding day in the woods, Royalty Inn guests can rejuvenate with a refreshing swim in our indoor pool, a warm-up in our sauna and a long soothing soak in our Jacuzzi. Welcome hunters, to the Royalty Inn!

Royalty Inn offers special rates for the last weekend of ATV road season!

This weekend marks the last weekend of the season to operate your ATVs on the roads in Gorham, NH. But it’s still time to squeeze in one more ATV adventure from the Royalty Inn! To help, we have reduced our hotel rates for the weekend and are offering a special $89 per night for a one queen room and just $99 per night for a king or two queen room.

Although the trails remain open for riding in Jericho State Park into the winter, the streets become off limits after October 31st. After the 31st, riders will need to trailer their ATVs from the hotel to the trailhead.

This weekend will be a fabulous time to explore the Jericho trails. The trails will be uncrowded and the leaves will have all dropped exposing more dramatic views of the spectacular mountain scenery around us. Be sure to bring an extra layer of clothing as this time of the year can be frosty!

Both White Mountain ATV Rentals and Northeast ATV Rentals remain open for all of your ATV rental needs. After the closure of the roads after the 31st, Northeast ATV Rentals facility in Milan remains open which is on a connector trail gaining direct access to the trails. So if you cannot make it during this last weekend, there is still time to squeeze in the last ride of the season in November.

Remember, the Royalty Inn has plenty of trailer parking and is the only Gorham hotel to feature a fully-equipped athletic club with weights, cardio machines, racquet ball courts, over-sized indoor lap pool, sauna, and Jacuzzi. Only two weekends left to ride ATVs on the road!

These two last weekends mark the end of the season to operate your ATVs on the roads in Gorham and Berlin, NH. But it’s still time to squeeze another weekend or two of ATV adventures from the Royalty Inn! RiverFire & ATV Zombie Poker Run this Saturday October 13th!

Just as the days are getting colder in northern New Hampshire, the city of Berlin will be warming things up with one of the best Fall festivals around called RiverFire. This all-day event takes place on Saturday, October 13th along the Androscoggin River at Heritage Park in nearby Berlin, NH. The event begins with a Zombie ATV Poker Run from 9am to 4pm. Prizes will be awarded for the best three hands and one prize given to the worst hand.

Plenty of other activities for families include a 5K run, duck races, hay rides, a children’s costume parade and hot air ballon rides. These events begin at 2pm and conclude with the lighting of the river and the bridge of pumpkins at 7pm. Click here for a complete calendar of events.

Northern New Hampshire foliage update!

With shorter days and cooler nights, fall weather has finally arrived, ushering in one of nature’s most magnificent seasons: Autumn!

In the Great North Woods & White Mountain National Forest regions of New Hampshire, fall colors are expected to be most vibrant during the next two weeks, especially in the higher elevations. Currently, foliage conditions are considered light to moderate with peak colors expected by the upcoming long Columbus Day weekend and the days following.

The best colors in our region are along the 13 mile wilderness stretch of Route 16 just south of Errol right now, and along Route 2 between Randolph and Lancaster. Not only are all of our 17 major attractions still open weekends, many of them are open daily until through at least Columbus Day weekend. So if you find yourself with a random day off during the week, or want to play hooky from work or school, hop in the car, avoid the crowds, and enjoy the fall fun here in the White Mountains. UTVRX is coming to Berlin, New Hampshire and taking over Jericho Mountain State park for a 2 day event!

Scavenger Hunt – Central Maine Power sports is sending you on a mission to win over $3500 in prizes!

Parade Laps – Take a parade lap with UTV Rally X officials to preview the race track (Limited slots, Extra Cost, UTV required)
