New 4X4 Trail to Open Saturday at Jericho Mountain State Park

4X4 off-road 1June 11, 2015

A special ribbon cutting ceremony this Saturday at Jericho Mountain State Park will mark the opening of the first 4 X4 off-road trail on state lands as options continue to expand for motorized recreation in our region. Immediately following the ribbon cutting at 10:30 AM., at least 15 trucks will depart onto the new trail for a celebratory ride.

Developed strictly for full-sized four wheel trucks and Jeeps, the 2.5 mile trail is the first of its kind on state lands in New Hampshire and one of the few public 4 X 4 trails in all of New England.

The North Woods Off-Road Club built the trail and will provide maintenance for it. The trail climbs only a few hundred feet but is extremely rugged with boulders, stumps and other obstacles to navigate. The trail will take between 3 to 4 hours to travel but there are short cuts for an early bailout if desired. There is a $20 fee per vehicle to utilize the trail.

The Royalty Inn is one of the closest hotels to Jericho State Park. ATV riders have already made the Royalty Inn the ATV home-base in the area and now we welcome off-road 4 X4 adventurers too. Welcome to the Royalty Inn!
